Research Interests:

My research interests include studying the neural basis of language acquisition and neurodevelopment in bilingual and multilingual learners. Currently, I am using brain imaging to study language production in students, in relation to the linguistic context of learning (i.e. learning school material in their second or third languages). I believe that the key to a successful education is understanding the system in which the information is received, retrieved, analyzed and produced by the learner’s brain. Such information opens the door for educationists to take effective strategies for developing an efficient educational system, and helps health professionals to diagnose the source of speech-language deficits. I am also enthusiastic about building a better understanding of communication and language production in people with neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
